The background, depicting waves of the ocean flooding the earth, symbolizes the earth being flooded with the truths restored through the Prophet Joseph Smith regarding Jesus Christ; the roaring lion symbolizes the seed of the prophet Joseph Smith rising up to declare these things to the world.

This logo was inspired by a passage in his patriarchal blessing, several modern day scriptures, and Joseph Smith's dedicatory prayer of the Kirtland Temple.

      In his patriarchal blessing, Joseph’s father blessed him that

“. . . he shall roar in his strength.” In other words, he would testify boldly to the world. This is tied to the idea that Joseph would be as the prophet Enoch, whose words were so powerful, the whole world took notice, as his words were as “the roar of lions” (Moses 7:13)
